Today is the feast of the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This feast comes so close after the feast of Corpus Christi because the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus is really present in the Blessed Sacrament. There was a miracle in Italy in which the Eucharistic Host at Mass changed literally into the Flesh of Christ. It no longer looked like bread. All Eucharistic Host at Mass are the Precious Body and Blood of Jesus, but this particular Host looked like flesh. It was examined under a microscope by leading doctors and was found to be the cardiac tissue of human flesh. We do not need such miracles to believe in the true Presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, but what this miracle told us which we did not know is that the Eucharistic Host IS the very Sacreat Heart of Jesus. Jesus must want to tell us that His Eucharistic Presence is His Sacred Heart. The Sacred Heart of Jesus is a symbol of His Love for us. It is His very Sacred Heart that we adore in the Blessed Sacrament. The only response to the Love of Jesus is to love Him in return. He wants our love. He needs our love. He came to this earth out of love. John 3:16: "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son so that whoever believes in Him willl have eternal life." Love sent Jesus. He said: "As the Father loves me so I love you." It is all about love, isn't it. Love is all that all human's want. To love and be loved is the only way to find happiness. But first we must know that we ARE loved by the Father and Jesus in the Holy Spirit who dwells in us. Then armed with that Divine Love we can love every else, even the so- called "unloveable". We love everyone because God loves everyone. He send His rain of sunshine on the just and unjust. If He does, then we should show our warmth and give nourishment to everyone in the world. That is what drove Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta. She picked up the dirty and the dying on the streets of Calcutta and gave them love. They died in peace and in dignity knowing they were loved.
With this kind of Divine love in us, we must forgive all those who have heart us no matter if they are strangers of family members. Jesus said: "Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. How we treat others in how we treat Christ. Jesus said: "How can you love God whom you do not see if you do not love those whom you do see?" So let us on this great feast of the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus love one another as Jesus loves us. Love, Pio
