Pio's Proverb 35: His back to the wall.

Bill's back is to the wall. Bill lives at the base of the overpass, a 30-foot wall on 8 Mile and Woodward in Detroit. I saw him today; and I stopped to chat with him as I usually do. He said: "I don't mind having my back to this wall."  He told me that a social worker from Lansing was making it her personal project to get him housing until his SSI is approved. He was very hopeful and pulled out a Magnificat I had left for him. "Was that you who left me this?" he asked.  "Yes," I said "and the Word of God is in it!"  He said,"I will read it now!"  I gave him the little money I had and said to him, "Now you more than me; but I am rich to know you."  He was homeless but not friendless. He was rich because he had hope, friends and God!

Love,  Pio
