Pio's Proverb 88: "A Beautiful Mind"

The 2001 film called "The Beautiful Mind" was a true American drama based on the life of John Nash, Nobel Laureat in Economics and directed by "Happy-Days" star, Ron Howard. This film stared Russell Crowe, Ed Harris, Christopher Plummer among others. You may have seen the film. I have. The drama gives special impetus and spice to an otherwise plain mathematical expressions of a genius. But what does come out is the true and awesome portrait of "A Beautiful Mind."  For us Americans, "a beautiful mind" is synonimous with a very high IQ. This IQ can be shown in art, in economics, in music, in mathematics, in live and film theater, in acting, in literature. The fruit of the mind is the indicator of the beauty of the mind. We can only view or hear or read the result of the mind not the mind itself. The only one who can intuit or sense the beauty of mind in itself is the self who owns that mind. Self awareness of your own mind can intuit in some degree the beauty of your own mind. Decartes said: "I think. Therefore I am."  He has immediate "subjective knowledge" of his own being. In viewing or knowing anyone else's being, we can only "objectively know" that mind by taking it into our own subjective analytical processies. But we cannot have immediate subjective knowledge of another subject's subjective being. That kind of access to another could only happen if our soul were in that other person. We are not able to do that except by analogously being subjectively united to that person in love. But however, our subjective being - our soul in self-reflextion - is totally open to full knowledge by God who has total access to our being. He can know us subjectively not objectively.  He even said: "Before you were knit together in the womb, I knew you."  Also, "With an everlasting love, I have loved you."  In God's view, every last one of us has a "Beautiful Mind" because He created it, loves it and knows it.  This is shown by the Spirit-inspired psalm 37: 3-7: "Delight in the Lord; and He will give you the desires of your heart."

Thus all minds are a reflection of God's mind as does an artist's work reflect his or her mind. Even Mary was aware of this when she said to Elizebeth: "My soul magnifies the Lord...for He who is Mighty has done great things for me."  She subjectlively knew that her mind and soul were reflections of God; and that her being gave glory to "God, my Savior."  Seems that not only gray matter but goodness are part of a "Beautiful Mind."

There is a beautiful mind today that resembles the innocent beauty of Our Lady when she was just so very young: That little girl is Jackie Evancho [just google her to hear her for yourself]. Jackie Evancho is an innocent, beautiful girl with a mature voice of a 30 year-old woman. All music is generated from the mind. Jackie's voice is the instrument of her mind. The voice only does what the mind tells it to do. Jackie has more than just talent, she has a beautiful mind that is manifested in her voice. When confronted by admirers who as amazed by her and complitment her to no end, Jackie almost tears up because she is innocently "amazed" herself. She can say "The Lord has done great things for me." And He has. From this little child - as from Mary who sang her Magnificat [Luke's visitation account] - comes sounds from heaven. People who hear her get goose bumps and think they are hearing an angel. Interesting because Mary heard from an angel and sang her song, too.

Let's look at a few more good minds - all of which reflect God's mind. But even a 3-month old reflects God's mind in the way he/she is curious and wants to know. We are made to "know" and to "love" - that is the "image and likeness of God."  These following minds reflect God to those Americans who value IQ:

Albert Einstein who never took a Stanford Benet IQ test is still to have been analized to have been 160. You may have thought it to be over 200; but understand that the average IQ is between 90 and 115. I am grateful to God that mine was 122 when I was 19 years old. Hopefully 11 years of college/university later, it may have climbed a little. We need to realize that only 1% of the population have an IQ of 135 or over. So Albert Einstein was really up there. Steven Hawkin is around 160 as well. But an eleven-year-old Victoria Cowle has an IQ of 162.  Bertrand Russel was considered to have an IQ of 180. Allegedly, Chris Langan has an IQ of 195; but Dr. Steven Hawkin says that is "rubbish". I have heard Chris Langan speak; and I totally agree with Dr. Hawkins on matters of IQ but not in matters of theo-physics. There is two others that are startling in my mind: Steven Wiltshire has be able to make drawing - 5 yards in length - of London, Tokyo, and Rome from memory after he has been flown over these cities for less than an hour. He can draw these three-deminsional looking drawing to such detail as to get the number of windows correct in a building. He had never seen Rome until this one flight over it but his drawing was so phenominal: he can even get the number of columns correct in front of the Pantheon.  The details of his drawing of the complex Colleseum look like a blue print. His mind takes a photographic image of the area and is recalled and is rendered by an artist's hand. He has all those abilities because he has a "beautiful mind" that reflects God's knowing everything in detail. Jesus said that His Father knew the number of all the hairs on our head.  He knows every sparrow that falls to the ground. God is all knowing - omniscient - not only of what happens here on earth but all that happens in the universe and in heaven. He knows it all with total recall - past, present, and future."

Albert Einstein is my favorite genius. He was born in Germany on March 14, 1879 and died [when I was 17 at the age] at the age of 76, on April 18, 1955.  He was a Theoretical Physicists of great renown. His main claims to fame were: Theory of Relativity and specifically massengery equivalence expressed in the equation: E = mc@.  In 1921 he wond the Nobel Prize in Physics " for his service to Theoetical Physics especially for his discovery of the law of photoelectric effect."  Time magazine called him "Person of the Century...one of the most influencial people in history."   I agree and even will say more: He was a true theo-physicist by his awe and wonder at the Universe which he believed to have come into being by a Divine Creator who is not only almighty and cosmic but a God who is up-close and personal.

Father in heaven, thank you for all the Beautiful Minds You have created in the History of humanking: From Leonardo Divinci to Abert Eienstein....to even our own minds and those of our children. What a "Beautiful Mind" You must have to create our Universe and maybe multiple unverses with all the life You have made - from a blade of grass to us, Your sons and daughters.  Give us to know and love one another with Your eyes and heart.  Give us to use our minds for You to bring about Your Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven....for Your Honor and Glory..now and forever. All this we ask in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Love, Pio
