As I made my morning walk by the Lake (St. Clare), I was giving thanks to God the Father for this new sunny day in late summer. As I did, I realized that the surface of the lake was shimmering like diamonds from the horizon to the middle of the lake. This was such a beautiful sight because the the sky was a wonderful blue and clear as clear could be - without even one cloud. Sometimes God decides to make a perfect day!
The temperature is about 68 degrees, and the wind is at a standstill making the surface of the lake as a mirror to reflect the sun pefectly. There is just enough wind to make the surface sparkle otherwise the lake would just reflect the sun in only two places: there would be a reflection of the sun near th ehorison and one a few feet off shore. I have seen this phenomenon a few times. The moon can do the same.
What does this shimmering lake mean? Why is God painting this living scene, this painting that is alive for me? You see, God knows I am a painter; so He calls me over to see His new painting every day. Even gray days have their unique beauty. When the sun is not out, the lake takes on a color that is brighter than the sky and even more colorful. How this happens I do not know. Also the flower without sun glow by their own light so to speak. Those that have their own brialliance can stand alove to give their colorful light.
I believe that God gave me this beautiful scene this morning - which I can still see out my 15 foot window because I live only 120 feet from the lake shore - as I write to you so that I can share it with you and to remind you and me that each moment God gives us on this planet is to be a celebrated, joyful, awesome moment in which He gives us to reach Him. One day, His Face will be our sunshine. The Saints will be the shimmering reflections on the Sea of Eternity. Let us enjoy here now so that we will be prepared to enjoy the same scene in Heaven but so much more exalted, expanded, joyous, and awesome. We will do what I had to do this moring: Praise and love Him......We love You, Father, for You are Beauty, Himself!

In the evening, still not a cloud appears in the sky. The suns goes down gently on another lovely day. The lake is still as your bathwater - catching the pink hues of the evening twilight. All is well as the moon peeks out early to show only half of its beauty. The other half is blue-pink like the sky. Gulls fly high having fun and enjoying the perfect temperature for flying. Even they know the perfect peace of a perfect day...that must have made St. Francis call out to welcome Sister Moon and say good-night to Sister Sun! God be praised for all His Beauty and Grace and Peace.
Love, Pio
