Today, by the grace/mercy of God and the love of my mom and dad, is my 74th Birthday!
I feel very grateful. I went to a funeral this morning of my dearest friend, William Pattyn. He was a year younger than myself. Yet God took him home and left me behind. Of coures Bill was born into heaven on Easter Morning: what a day to leave this world! God bless you, Bill, and Happy Birthday to you on your new birth into Heaven! This is your big day!
When I was being born at home on April 11, 1938, my sweet Mom, Carmen Zammit, told me many years later that she could hear my sister, Catherine, age 1, singing in the next room. Since Catherine had just celebrated her first birthday on April 10, 1938, she was still celebrating her birthday on my birthday, April 11. Catherine was singing to herself loudly for everyone to hear: "Happy Birthday to me...Happy Birthday to me.!!.." So, every year since then I have call my sister and sing her the same song she invented on my birthday. We always excange good wishes and love on April 10 and April 11. She looks forward to my song to her that she herself has composed 74 years ago on this date.
So, let us pray:
"Dearest Father, thank you for giving birth to me in Your mind before the world was created and for deciding that April 11, 1938 was the perfect day to get born into this world. You also have picked out the date that you will let me be born into heaven..like you did for Bill. I pray it will be a long time from now..many years..but just as April 11, 1938 was the perfect date to come into this world, so my new birthday into Heaven will be the perfect date. And just as you made sure I was born safely into this world, so too you will make sure I am born into the next safely too. Thank you ahead of time for that date.
Father, would you please take this request deeply into Your Heart? Would you allow me to come to you as Enoc did? "Enoc walked with God; and then he was no more because God took him." Father, you took Enoc body and soul..not because he was holy. I am not worthy...but You took him because YOU ARE HOLY! So, Abba! Would you please remember this request and take me as You did Enock. This I ask in Jesus' name through the Immaculate Heart of Mary -- all with praise and thanks or hearing my prayer right now....and for inspiring me to pray/ask this favor. Father, when I arrive in Heaven, would You please be the first to wish me, "Happy Birthday, My son!" Amen."
